Inspections related to Natural Gas piping

Effective immediately all ‘gas’ inspections will be conducted as part of the Mechanical inspections.   These include underground piping, rough-in piping, pressure tests and fixture connections.  All other mechanical work is to be completed with the gas work.

At the mechanical rough-in inspection it is expected that all gas lines including those to fixtures be completed and all appliance valves in place.  A pressure test with gauge(s) will also be conducted at the time.   Failure to pass this inspection will prevent the building rough-in (framing) from being approved.

The mechanical final will not require an additional pressure test, however all fixtures must be installed and connected.  All future connections must properly valved and capped off.  It is the contractor’s responsibility to have any additional pressure tests done prior to Mechanical Final inspection.  A gas tag to authorize the meter installation will not be placed until the mechanical final is approved.
