Mission

The Chatham County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee reviews information on the state of affordable housing needs in Chatham County and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners for procedures and policies around affordable housing. The Committee administers and oversees the Housing Trust Fund and works to implement the the Chatham County Affordable Housing Strategy Toolbox.

Charge and Responsibilities 

  • Implement priorities identified in the Chatham County Affordable Rental Housing Strategic Toolbox
  • Oversee the Housing Trust Fund application and award process
  • Support diverse affordable housing models, including rental, ownership, and supportive and transitional housing
  • Promote community engagement efforts, fair housing, and affordable housing development opportunities
  • Review affordable housing policies and procedures and provide recommendations and comments to the Chatham County Board of Commissioners on affordable housing topics
  • Submit an “Advisory Committee Summary Annual Report” to the Board of County Commissioners

Community members interested in attending an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee meeting are invited to attend and speak during public comment. Future meetings are listed on the County Calendar, and meeting reminders are distributed via the county E-Notifications system.
