Every two years, Chatham County conducts a resident satisfaction survey. It is a random phone survey of Chatham County residents over the course of several months. It consists of core questions and related sub-questions regarding satisfaction about Chatham County as a place to live and work, ways people get information on county government, and feedback on services and how well staff provided them. Participants are also asked open-ended questions to get more detail where low marks were given and to gain insight on the most pressing or challenging issues facing Chatham County.

The 2023 results were exceptionally positive, resulting in an overall grade of B+. The overall mean of 3.45 is the County’s highest mean to date, surpassing the 2021 mean of 3.33.

More than 80% of the grades were B+ or better. No grades were below a B-, which is a strong improvement over 2021. Twenty-four grades increased, 46 remained unchanged, and only 5 declined. Services that County departments offer earned a B+, with a mean of 3.4, which is the highest to date. County staff earned an A-, with a mean of 3.56, also the highest to date.
