Utilize Chatham County's online permitting portal, OpenGov, for permitting services offered for Central Permitting, Fire Marshal Office, Environmental Health, Planning and Watershed Protection.

This merger impacts residents, builders & others who request new utility connections.  Starting July 1st any permit applicants that will need a water or sewer connection in Pittsboro will need to provide the completed Utility Service Installation Application provided by TriRiver (City of Sanford).

Residential Permit Revision Form

Effective August 12, 2024 we will require a Residential Permit Revision Form to be uploaded and submitted for all changes regarding residential permits that have already been issued.

Next Day Open Floor Inspections

Until further notice, Open Floor inspections will be available next day if requested prior to 2:00pm. The Open Floor inspection is not required but is done as a courtesy to provide best practices and increase customer service; they will be conducted on projects with crawlspaces and wood floor systems. The inspection is done after the floor support members have been placed, after all anchor bolts and required hold-downs (as indicated on the plans) have been installed, and before the sub-flooring has been installed.

• Respond to the needs of developers and builders while balancing the safety of our citizens, all of which influences development cost, profitability, and the quality of construction in Chatham County.
