Chatham County currently has five towns:

- Siler City is in the western part of the county and is the largest town in Chatham County. Learn more about Siler City- https://www.silercity.org
- Goldston is the smallest town, with an elected mayor and town board, but no full-time paid staff. Learn more about Goldston.
- Cary is primarily located in Wake County, with a small portion in Chatham County. Residents in that area may get services from the town or county. Learn more about Cary- https://www.townofcary.org
- Apex is primarily located in Wake County. In April 2022, a small portion was annexed into Chatham County. Residents in that area may get services from the town or county. Learn more about Apex- https://www.apexnc.org
There are also many townships within Chatham County. Townships are divisions of the county used for Census and other purposes, but are not actual towns or political subdivisions. These communities have all played an important role in our history and help make our county a better place to live. View a map of the townships.
