Construction & Demolition Recycling Available at Collection Centers
Data from the previous Waste Characterization Study showed that more than 25% of the material that ended up in the landfill was construction and demolition (C&D). To help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, we have C&D recycling available at all 12 Collection Centers. The C&D collected at the centers will go to a C&D facility where the items will be sorted; many C&D materials can be recycled or reused.
For small, do-it-yourself projects, completed by the homeowner, C&D waste can be recycled at all 12 of the Collection Centers.
The centers will accept C&D materials from residents with a current decal who are doing the work themselves. Contractors and businesses are not allowed to use the centers. The Collection Center large load policy still applies, so residents are able to bring one pickup truck-size load in a seven-day period.
The following items will be accepted in the C&D debris container:
- Cabinets
- Carpet and padding
- Counter tops, granite, marble, and tile
- Doors- glass cannot be accepted; just the wood or metal
- Flooring- wood, vinyl, etc.
- Gypsum (drywall)
- Insulation
- Plumbing fixtures- PVC, sink, toilet, tub, etc.
- PVC Piping
- Shingles
- Siding
- Tile
- Windows- glass cannot be accepted; just the wood or metal
- Wood- lumber, plywood, treated, untreated, and broken pallets
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:
- Asbestos- contact the Main Facility for help
- Brick- accepted at the Main Facility
- Concrete- accepted at the Main Facility
- Furniture- put in the trash at the Collection Centers
- Mattresses and box springs- put in the trash at the Collection Centers
- Rugs- put in the trash at the Collection Centers
- Whole pallets- accepted at the Main Facility
