The Program Integrity Unit investigates cases of fraud, abuse and waste in public assistance programs. These programs include: Work First, Food and Nutrition Services, Childcare Subsidy, Emergency Assistance, Low Income Energy Assistance, Special Assistance and other programs as needed. North Carolina law requires that persons applying for these programs provide all of the information needed to determine if they meet the requirements. By providing information that is not correct, these persons are committing a crime.
