On June 15, 2023, Chatham County Department of Social Services will begin accepting applications for our Emergency Housing Rental Assistance Program (E-HAP). E-HAP will provide a one-time payment intended to help stabilize households who are past due in rent and/or facing an eviction.
Eligibility Requirements
- Household annual income is at or below 40% area median income (AMI) for the size of its household based on most recently published HUD guidelines. See chart below.
- Applicant must be 15 or more days behind in rent and/or received an eviction notice.
- Applicant must be 18 years or older and a Chatham County NC resident.
- Applicant must be identified on lease or other rental agreement. If the applicant has a verbal rental agreement, additional documentation is required.
- Household must be at risk of homelessness or housing instability without assistance.
Income cannot exceed the amount listed based on household size.
