Service Access and Hours
The Department of Social Services will continue providing the full array of services with the following modifications:
• The public is encouraged to use phone, online and mail processes to access DSS services to minimize face to face interactions.
• To apply online, visit www.epass.gov.
• Applications are available outside the main entrance of the DSS office at our convenient self-service center.
• There is a secure drop box in front of the DSS office that is available 24-7. Please note that it is only checked during business hours.
• DSS employees are making every effort to answer all calls same day to ensure easy access. To apply by phone, please call 919-542-2759.
• The Agency continues to follow CDC guidelines. For in person visits and appointments, masks are available in the reception area.
• Apply for report changes and upload documents for Child Support using www.childsupport.com. For case status update and payment questions, please call Child Support Customer Service at 1-800-992-9457.
• Child and Adult Protective Services reports may be made over the phone. Please call the hotline at 919-642-6988 during business hours and 919-542-2911 after hours and weekends.
Residents may continue to access social services in the following ways:
- Apply, recertify, and report changes online for Food and Nutrition using https://epass.nc.gov
- Apply and report changes for Medicaid using https://epass.nc.gov or https://www.healthcare.gov/
- Apply, report changes, and upload documents for Child Support using
https://ncchildsupport.ncdhhs.gov/ecoa/#home. For case status update and payment question you can call Child Support Customer Service at 1-800-992-9457

Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
Low-income Energy Assistance (LIEAP) program will start for individuals age 60 and older and/or disabled on December 1st and all other households can apply starting January 1st.
Automatic payments have been authorized for households with members age 60 and older or disabled, who are actively receiving Food and Nutrition Services and received a LIEAP payment in the 2023/2024 season. The authorization notices will be mailed out in January and payments will be issued to the providers.
