The Communicable Disease Team monitors cases of infectious diseases in Chatham County. We investigate and report occurrences to State epidemiologists for purposes of public record, education, statistical analysis, etc. We serve on epidemiological teams in cooperation with the state, other counties and the UNC School of Public Health.

The CD team has also been on the frontlines of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In honor and appreciation of their work, the nurses were named the Chatham County Government Third Quarter Employees of the Quarter for 2020.

A special note from the CD Team: Please do not touch or approach wild animals. These animals may have rabies. If you have concerns, please call the Animal Services center at (919) 542-7203.

Communicable disease nurses investigate cases of these and
many other diseases in Chatham County.
