Providing a helping hand in the first days of your child’s life!

Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby!

Bringing home a newborn is exciting, but can also be a little overwhelming. We at the Chatham County Public Health Department are committed to helping you during this wonderful time with our Newborn-Postpartum Home Visiting Program.

As part of our commitment to improve the health of moms and babies across Chatham County, we want to help you in these first few months, whether it's your first baby or you already have children.

Services offered include:

  • Home visit from a public health nurse
  • Health assessment for both mother and newborn
  • Social support and educational resources
  • Assistance with doctor's appointments
  • Discuss family planning options
  • Answer questions about baby's care
  • Information on immunizations, baby safety, breast and formula feeding, safe sleep, and more

All mothers and newborns that live in Chatham County are eligible for this program. The services are provided at no cost, although Medicaid may be billed.
