In 2009, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners and Cary Town Council appointed a Joint Issues Committee to work on developing a Joint Land Use Plan for the area of Chatham County east of Jordan Lake and north of White Oak Creek.

The Chatham-Cary Joint Land Use Plan, including an Interlocal Agreement, was adopted by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners June 18, 2012.  The Joint Plan and Interlocal Agreement were adotped by the Cary Town Council on June 28, 2012.  The Plan became effective July 1, 2012.  Click Adopted Documents for the adopted documents.

June 6, 2012:  The Chatham County/Town of Cary Joint Issues Committee held their final meeting for the year on June 6th, at which they discussed and endorsed the Joint Land Use Plan Interlocal Agreement. Meeting Agenda.

May 8, 2012:  The Chatham County/Town of Cary Joint Issues Committee met in Pittsboro from 9:00-11:00a.m.  The committee endorsed the Joint Land Use Plan for adoption by the governing boards and discussed the framework for an Interlocal Agreement to be adopted by the Board of Commissioners and Town Council.
