WHICH EVENTS MUST APPLY?

The notification form applies to the same events that had to obtain permits or approvals in the past: large outdoor public events, such as fairs, carnivals, street festivals or similar events involving tents, air-supported structures (inflatables), food sales, art shows, outdoor musical performances or plays, and fireworks displays.

If you are not sure if an event requires a Special Event Notification Form, contact the Chatham County Central Permitting Office at 919-542-8230.

The Special Event Notification Form can be found online.

Contact Central Permitting at building.permits@chathamcountync.gov or call 919-542-8230 if you have problems or questions about the form.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

 After sending in the notification form, the applicant will be contacted by county or city personnel if additional information or permitting is needed.  The applicant should take this form when meeting with other agency contacts. There is no fee to submit a notification form.
