As a nuclear power plant risk county, Chatham County maintains emergency plans, conducts training and exercises, and coordinates closely with Duke Energy, neighboring risk counties, the state and federal agencies.  In the unlikely event of an emergency at the Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Chatham County Emergency Management would coordinate activities to warn, notify, and protect the public.
