WHEN YOU SHOULD CALL 9-1-1
All 9-1-1 calls should involve emergencies needing immediate assistance such as:
- A crime being committed
- An ambulance is needed
- Smoke or fire is visible
- Anytime law enforcement, fire, or medical personnel is needed
If you are in doubt a situation is an emergency, CALL 9-1-1. A telecommunicator will assist you in determining your need.
DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 FOR THE FOLLOWING:

Report or check on a power outage

Inquire about road conditions

Check on school closings

Asking for a telephone number (directory assistance)

Asking about community events
What to do if you accidentally dial 9-1-1 for what ever the reason "Do Not Hang Up", stay on the phone and speak with the telecommunicator. No matter how quickly you hang up the phone, the 9-1-1 call will always go through to the center.
