Chatham County 9-1-1 Emergency Communication's telecommunicators work 12 hour shifts answering 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls. The center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The telecommunicators hold several certifications including Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR, Emergency Fire Dispatch, Emergency Police Dispatch, Division of Criminal Information, Incident Command System 100/200/700/800, APCO Telecommunicator certification and/or Sheriff Standards certification, Hazardous Materials, Certified Partner of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and many other job specific trainings. Chatham County telecommunicators work non-rotating shifts that begin at either 5:30 am or 5:30 pm.
