County Manager  Dan LaMontagne

Dan was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners as the interim chief executive officer of the county, following the retirement of Renee Paschal on October 1, 2018. Major responsibilities are:

  • Overseeing the overall county operations within the policies adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, with a special focus on external programs, intergovernmental relations, environmental issues, facilities and public works.
  • Maintaining relationships between the county and the community
  • Facilitating coordination between county departments
  • Promoting effective management practices and priorities for departments and employees

Assistant County Manager  Bryan Thompson

Assistant County Manager  Carolyn Miller

Budget Director  Darrell Butts

Darrell provides support to the County Manager's Office by:

  • Developing the operating budget
  • Working with departments on measuring performance and developing work plans
  • Evaluating departments and services for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Administering county JCPC funding (juvenile justice)
  • Other professional support, including special studies and evaluations

Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners  Jenifer Johnson

As Clerk to the Board of Commissioners, Jenifer's duties primarily include:

  • Preparing agendas and materials for commissioner meetings
  • Recording and preparing board meeting minutes
  • Completing follow-up to meetings, such as maintaining updated ordinances
  • Coordinating public records requests

Paralegal  Ann Hammack

Human Resources Director  Courtney Jones

Courtney's primary duties include:

  • Recruiting and selecting new employees
  • Developing and enforcing personnel policies
  • Developing and overseeing benefits programs
  • Developing and offering classes for employee development
  • Monitoring work-related accidents and injuries
  • Managing the county's pay-for-performance
  • Developing job descriptions and other documents for specific positions
  • Conducting research & analysis to be comparable and in compliance
  • Supervision of county veteran's services program

Benefits Manager  Andrea Brady

  • Managing employee benefits and new hire orientation

Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Administrator

  • HRIS-related needs (Human Resources Information Systems) such as software assistance and training and management of the employee website
  • Serves as the Learning and Development Coordinator by assisting with the development of training and coordination of the Chatham County Leadership Academy
  • Answers questions related to the hiring process
  • Assisting employees with any HR-related questions

Human Resources Analyst  Missy King

The Human Resources Analyst is responsible for: 

  • Serving as the County Wellness Coordinator
  • Serving as the Recruitment and Selection Coordinator by assisting with interviews and attending career fairs
  • Updating all County job descriptions
  • Managing all employee programs such as Employee of the Year and the United Way campaign
  • Assisting employees with any HR-related or wellness-related questions
  • Assisting the Human Resources Director with special projects

Public Information Officer & Media Contact  Kara Lusk Dudley

Kara has a range of diverse duties, including:

  • Writing and distributing news releases
  • Serving as the primary contact for the news media
  • Serving as the primary webmaster for the county website
  • Managing the county social media channels  
  • Serving as a resource to staff and the Board of Commissioners on civic engagement and public information
  • Producing public information materials, such as the annual State of Chatham County Report and the Biennial Resident Satisfaction Survey

  • Serves as county equity officer, developing countywide equity programming
  • Works with local organizations to improve equitable access to local government services

Housing and Community Development Officer  Jason Smith

The Housing and Community Development Officer provides support in the management of housing-related initiatives and activities including, but not limited to:

  • Affordable housing development programs and partnerships
  • Affordable Housing Trust Fund
  • Staff liaison to the Chatham County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
  • Conducts research, analyzes data, and makes housing-related policy recommendations
  • Cross-departmental and interagency coordination and collaboration
  • Serves as the Fair Housing Officer
  • Assists with making recommendations for the management of the Affordable Housing portion of the Article 46 tax revenue
  • Applies for grant and technical support resources related to affordable housing-related work

Intergovernmental Relations Manager  Lindsay Ray

  •  Manages the County's lobbying and regulatory at the federal and state level to carry out legislative priorities adopted by the Board of Commissioners
  • Provides assistance to the County Manager regarding legislative and other intergovernmental activities that facilitate interaction between county administration, the Board of Commissioners, the State Legislature and other government officials
  • Reviews pending legislation, regulation, priorities and issues and the potential impact on the county and articulate the county's legislative agendas to local, regional, state and federal elected officials and special districts

 

Administrative Support Specialist II  Christy Thomas

  • Maintains a daily calendar of appointments for multiple staff and board, administers the meeting room schedules and coordinates meetings, appointments, conferences, makes travel and lodging arrangements and assist with even preparation and catering
  • Assists with budget process, processes purchase order request, administers bi-weekly payroll process; codes and reconciles invoices with purchase orders and statements; administers the rental process for the historic courthouse
