Chatham Community Library will host local radio-enthusiast Ken Samuelson and his program, "The Golden Age of Radio", on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 2:00-4:00pm in the Holmes Family Meeting Room. This program is free and open to the public.
Samuelson will weave the story of radio invention, the main movers and drivers, the stars, and share audio clips on the use of radio during WWI and WWII. Radios spanning 10 decades will be on display. Additionally, a 1920 wind up record player and an Ediphone will be included. These were popular in the interim period when early radios were cumbersome and expensive and before radio prices became affordable. Record players filled that gap.
