Goldston Linda Gorham: Storyteller

For families with children of all ages

  • Date: 07/17/2024 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Join us at the JS Waters Elementary School (55 J S Waters School Rd, Goldston, NC 27252) for a special storytelling event!

Linda Gorham is a storyteller who tells many types of stories. Be prepared because she is going to include all of you in her stories. Get ready to move! Get ready to learn! Get ready for fun!

Linda Gorham’s performances are filled with surprising twists and unconventional humor. Gorham has engaged audiences with interactive folktales, distinctive myths, notably twisted fairy tales, riveting, well-researched historical stories, and humorously heartfelt stories about family life for over 30 years. Each performance is infused with Linda’s unique signature, ‘sophisticated attitude.’

Linda is a contributing author to Telling Stories to Children, published by the National Storytelling Network, and co-author of Quality Angles, a book that explores excellence in the workplace. Linda was co-festival director of the 2014 National Association of Black Storytellers Festival and Conference and the 2003 National Storytelling Network Conference.

She brought her storytelling to communities in Greece and was the co-leader of professional storytelling delegations that traveled to Egypt and South Africa as part of an international exchange. Her children’s CD, Common Sense and Uncommon Fun, won four National Awards, including Parents’ Choice. Her CD for family audiences, Jumping on Grandma’s Plastic Covered Couch, received a Storytelling World Winner Award.

In the summer of 2016, Linda received the Distinguished National Service Award from the National Storytelling Network. In November 2016, Linda received the Linda Jenkins Brown Nia Award for Service from the National Association of Black Storytellers.

Before her storytelling life, Linda spent 13 years as a three-piece-suit-wearing-briefcase-carrying human resources manager and trainer for Prudential Insurance Company.
