Below are upcoming meetings, workshops and other events from the Chatham Soil & Water Conservation District.

District board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm in the conference room (room 310, west side entrance) of the new Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro, unless otherwise noted below. 3rd Annual Creek Geeks Field Day

Community members of all ages are invited to join the Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District, Loves Creek Watershed Stewards, and the Town of Siler City Parks and Recreation for Creek Geeks Field Day on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Bray Park on the Loves Creek Greenway (800 Alston Bridge Rd., Siler City, NC 27344) from 12pm to 3pm. Rain date for this event is March 17, 2024 from 12pm to 3pm.

Attendees will be able to participate in several interactive activities including:
• Explore some of the techniques used in stream health assessment and water quality testing in Loves Creek.
• Search for macro invertebrate critters living in the creek.
• Measure chemical and physical parameters to assess the water quality.
• Learn more about the natural history of Loves Creek.
• Help clean up trash in the area.

Participants should wear comfortable shoes for walking to the event site and clothing that may get wet, and they should be prepared to sign waivers at check in on the day of the event.
