CCL African American Read In

Join us for a celebration of African American authors!

The National African American Read-In is the nation’s oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English in order to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month.

This interactive, multigenerational program will celebrate black authors, literacy, reading, and diversity in literature. A number of #OwnVoices books will be available to read quietly to yourself or share out loud with others, as well as to check out and enjoy at home. Learn about books and authors you may not have discovered yet!

The African American Read-In will take place in the Lakritz Storytime Room, and is open to all members of the public.
