Chatham County is part of the regional Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), as established by state law. The MPO is currently evaluating long-range transportation alternatives for the region. This will include reviewing options for future projects related to highways, bus transit, light rail, bicycles, pedestrian traffic and other transportation that would be implemented through the year 2035.
The MPO is providing several opportunities for residents of the metro area to review the alternatives and provide feedback through one of public meetings or comment period described below.
VIEW ALTERNATIVES ONLINE: Visit the MPO’s website to view maps and tables of the transportation alternatives for the region, which are available at the link below, but please note that the file is very large (61 MB) and some residents may not be able to access the file. Click here for a link to the MPO's file of maps and tables. Another option is to visit the this page on the MPO's website and look for Attachment 6 in the bottom category of files on the page. You may try saving the file to your computer instead of opening it online, but this will still take a fairly long time.
