In 2020, the Public Health National Center for Innovations (PHNCI) and the de Beaumont Foundation collaborated, with input from the public health community at large, to update the 10 Essential Public Health Services. Number one on that list: "Assess and monitor population health status, factors that influence health, and community needs and assets."
The Chatham County Public Health Department, with collaboration with community partners like the Chatham Health Alliance and Chatham Hospital, works year-round to collect, analyze, and report data on the health and well-being of Chatham residents, along with information on social determinants of health like income, housing, and employment. This page is the web home of any reports, assessments, and data published by the CCPHD.
These reports are sorted into three categories. Click on the category to view all recent reports.
- Community Assessments: Every three years, the CCPHD, Chatham Health Alliance, and Chatham Hospital collaborate to produce the Chatham County Community Assessment, an in-depth overview of health and well-being in the county. These reports are produced to both meet state requirements and provide data and context to the past, present, and future of Chatham County.
- State of the County Health (SOTCH) Reports: These documents serve as yearly updates to key data points and objectives covered in Community Assessments. Much shorter and more condensed than Community Assessments, these are due in the early months of each year to cover the previous year.
- Topical Reports: Usually 1-2 pages, these reports cover specific topics of interest with a few data points and resources county residents can use to find help and guidance.
